HEARTBEAT

At Dansehallerne, Lille Carl, March 10th – 24th 2012

HEARTBEAT is a performance investigating love and all the contradicting feelings connected to it. It’s an interactive 4D experience that includes and activates all senses.

Love is grand! We all know love but what’s the smell of it? What’s the feel of it? What’s the taste of it? What’s actually the sound of love? HEARTBEAT deals with the feelings of love: Passion, happiness, longing, anxiety, insecurity, jealousy, pain and sorrow. The four performers meet in different relations and constellations forming tender duets, scheming trios and euphoric group dynamics on the way – and the invisible boarders between the audience and the performers are erased. The spectators are invited into a red universe which activates all senses; a hairy bouncer, an aphrodisiac drink, a turned back, intriguing smells, sweet music and hectic insecurity and many, many heartbeats.  The set is welcoming and warm and invites the audience  to hang out and explore the numerous facets of love.

The performance is divided in two parts:

PART 1: 9th – 13th January 2012: CHASING HEARTBEAT AT THORVALDSENS MUSEUM – a preliminary investigation.

Which other place would be better to explore love than among Bertel Thorvaldsen’s sculptures at the museum in the heart of Copenhagen?  Here, surrounded by Venus, Amor and Psyche, the teenage audience is invited to take part both directly and indirectly in the creation of the final performance. It’s a room of very few restrictions: Eating, drinking, talking, moving about and interacting with the performers is allowed and it’s also perfectly all right not to.

The choreographer Tali Rázga, wishes to observe the reactions of the audience under those informal circumstances to benefit from the audiences reactions and their views on love. How do they think a broken heart smells? How does it feel to touch great love?

In the final performance, PART 2: HEARTBEAT at Dansescenen, the experiences from PART 1 will be integrated.
